Making real galaxies as we know them is much more complex than understanding
the origin of the larger scale structures within which they were formed. The
process of structure formation needs to be followed into the non-linear
regime and then many competing feed-back processes need to be incorporated
into the models. Many new clues are coming from observations of the Cosmic
Microwave Background Radiation and of very distant galaxies and quasars. The
many different constraints on the processes involved in Galaxy Formation
will be reviewed and an attempt made to put some order into the large
volumes of new data now available.
