Information

INAF Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory carries out an intense activity of dissemination of astronomical culture aimed at the general public and at schools, in collaboration with other institutions and associations, on the Arcetri hill and in the local territory.

Guided tours, both during the day and at night, allow the observation of various astronomical objects with the historic Amici refracting telescope and with some portable instruments. A path with a scale model of the solar system welcomes visitors in the astronomical park of the Observatory, guiding them to the dome that houses the telescope. Other tools allow you to visualize the traces of cosmic rays and to illustrate the fundamental principles of astronomical spectroscopy. An open-air theater, capable of accommodating up to one hundred people, allows observations of the sky with the naked eye and hosts cultural events such as readings, conferences, lectures, concerts, theatrical performances inspired by astronomical themes and special events with scientific games for children. A set of proposals designed to share the discoveries of our astrophysics research with the public.
